Three hundred jobs are to go in Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh with the closure of a call centre by a telecoms company.
Economy Minister Deirdre Hargey said the news that BT planned to withdraw from the town was a huge disappointment.
The company had warned earlier this year that it might consolidate its sites in Northern Ireland.
The Enniskillen workers supply customer support to EE mobile phone customers.
The jobs are expected to go by October 2024.
"As a major employer in the region for over three decades, this decision is devastating for the workers and their families and also for the wider community," Ms Hargey said.
Fermanagh and South Tyrone MLA Deborah Erskine said the news was a major blow to the town.
"Whilst the company are not being definitive, there appears to be no likelihood that the jobs in question will remain after the required consultation.
"When the news first emerged in February staff were told that the site was not likely to be a long-term location for a customer care centre, but that no final decision had been taken.
"The consequences for the local economy in Enniskillen as a result of such a decision to close the BT/EE site are far reaching."
